Rhidian Williams These melodies are sweet and wholesome and beautiful. And that's rate and welcome. Thank you.

Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) Actually, I don't care about "prog instrumentation and soundscapes". In the end, it's the quality of the songwriting that counts - be it in prog or in any other genre. And Pete Jones' songwriting really shines in this reduced chamber music setting. Can't put it better than Carsten Pieper, who's one of my authorities in rock music reviews: This is an... "er, charmingly beautiful album". That's the truth. Nothing more to say. Favorite track: Blackbird.

about

The Whispering of the World, the sixth studio album from Tiger Moth Tales, is a change of direction for Pete Jones. Instead of complex song structures and the prog instrumentation and soundscapes, the new album is more song based and features Jones on grand piano and vocals, accompanied by the minimalistic beauty of a string quartet. The stripped back nature of the recording allows the songs to speak for themselves, with the strings both providing a warm backdrop and accentuating the lyrical themes.

(Pete) “It was a new experience for me, recording in a studio where I wasn't producing on my own or pressing the buttons. So that was daunting at first, but ultimately rewarding. It was amazing to work with the string players, and there were many moments where I just closed my eyes and was taken to another world, just enjoying the moment and listening to what they were doing. I'm so happy with the results."

This new release is the most personal collection of songs from Jones since the debut Tiger Moth Tales album Cocoon, inspired by life experiences.

(Pete) "The songs are all based on memories of special or significant moments, either alone or with friends and loved ones. The themes are the appreciation of nature, dealing with depression, good times spent with those we love, and coming to terms with both losing those close to us and our own mortality and place in the universe. Generally it's about making the most of life, which sometimes is easy to overlook."
