kevinfroleiks Fantastic album! I heard the opening track on a compilation album and knew I had to check out the full release. This really fills a Peter Gabriel era Genesis shaped hole in my life but there’s nothing derivative about it. Very classic prog sound that still sounds new and unique. Favorite track: Mad March Hare.

Rob Hill "We are stepping into the sunshine," sings Pete and this album truly captures the hope, light, life and joy of this special season. From the jubilant Spring Fever to the touching beauty of Light, this is a magical collection that I will treasure for years to come. Favorite track: Spring Fever.

about

A Song Of Spring is the 7th studio album from Tiger Moth Tales, and follows on in the seasonal albums after 2017's ‘The Depths Of Winter’. This new offering from Pete Jones, celebrates the spirit of rebirth and renewal, light and new life.

(Pete) "I didn't know back in 2017 that I would do another album based on the seasons, as ‘The Depths Of Winter’ concept formed as a result of a few false starts. But, having released it, I did have the thought in the back of my mind that it would be nice to get around to the other seasons in time. The time felt right this year, with so many positive aspects of the Spring season to look at, and I really wanted to write an upbeat album."

A Song Of Spring is a return to the big prog moments, soundscapes and themes that Tiger Moth Tales is associated with. As with all Tiger Moth Tales releases the full emotional spectrum is explored. Up tempo and joyful tracks like Spring Fever and Mad March Hare, contrast dramatically with the darkness of Dance Till Death and the sadness and introspective qualities of the anthemic Light. The latter track features a poignant, soaring solo from guitar legend and fellow Camel bandmate Andy Latimer.

(Pete) "It was fantastic to get Andy playing on the album, something we've talked about doing before, but the time felt right for this album and Andy did an amazing job as always. I also had help in the lyrics department from my good friends John and Libby Holden. I had completed most of the music, but lyrically I was behind schedule. I asked John and Libby if they would like to contribute, which felt right as I had worked with another lyricist on Depths Of Winter also."

As with the first seasonal album, A Song Of Spring features stories and legends from around the world. From the Rapa Nui on Easter Island and the ancient Indian festival of Holi, to the Russian Pagan Rite Of Spring and references to Roman and Greek deities.

(Pete) "There were so many good stories to choose from, with great suggestions from my wife and also John and Libby. As with all the albums, I like to have a variety of feelings and styles going on, both in the music and lyrics. I feel this album captures the joys of Springtime and the hopeful elements, but with those darker and sadder aspects lurking in the background to take you by surprise. That's how life tends to go after all."

Join Tiger Moth Tales for A Song Of Spring. Let the seasons begin again.

My fond thanks as always to Rob Reed, Will Mackie and Chris Jones for all your help and support with White Knight to make each album happen.
John and Libby, thank you so much for your amazing contributions to this album, for pulling me out of a lyrical writer's block, and for all your kind words.
Appreciation and thanks to my good friend Andy Latimer, for the fantastic guitar solo you provided. It was all I could have asked for and really put the icing on the cake.
Thank you to my wife Kimberley, for coming up with ideas, and sticking with me as the midlife crisis steadily progresses.
Thanks as always to my family and friends for being there.
And thanks to all the Mothingtons out there for keeping the Tiger Moth in flight. I really hope this album puts a spring in your step ... and I'll see you at a gig soon.
